Darbhanga village clash over dispute leaves 6 injured, police deployed

Patna: Police personnel have been deployed at Maksudanpur village under Biraul police station area of Darbhanga district following a violent clash between two groups over a minor dispute on Thursday evening.

Stones were pelted from both sides, leaving five to six people, including children, injured. While normalcy has largely been restored, tension continues to prevail in the area.

According to police, the incident began after a motorcycle allegedly hit a person from the other group. The matter initially led to a verbal altercation, which soon escalated into tension and stone-pelting from both sides. The situation deteriorated before police reached the spot and intervened to prevent further violence.

Biraul sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Prabhakar Tiwari and sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Shashank Raj rushed to the village along with police force and brought the situation under control.

Considering the sensitivity of the incident, police personnel from Biraul, Badgaon, Ghanshyampur, Jamalpur, Kusheshwar Asthan and Tilakeshwar police stations have been deployed in the village. Around 100 police personnel are camping in the area to prevent any fresh disturbance. A riot control vehicle has also been stationed at the site to deal with any emergency, the SDPO said.

Among the injured are Ehsan Bakkho (2.5), Tanveer (10), Abdul (22) and Parvez (27). Two of them were in critical condition and were referred to Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment. From the other side, Bisho Sahni (60) and a few others sustained injuries. All the injured are undergoing treatment at hospitals.

The SDPO said, The situation is under control. Police are questioning people from both sides and identifying those involved in the violence. Around a dozen people have been detained so far. Police and administrative officials are also camping in the village, while residents have been urged to maintain peace and not pay heed to rumours.
