Congress High Command Approves Presidents for 53 District Units in Bihar
In a significant organizational move, the Congress high command on Monday cleared the appointment of presidents for the party's 53 district units in Bihar. This decision follows the completion of the restructuring of the respective district organizations under the pan-India Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, a nationwide initiative aimed at revitalizing the party's grassroots structure.
Strengthening Organizational Performance
All-India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K C Venugopal announced the appointments, emphasizing that the move is designed to "strengthen the organisational performance" of the party in the state. In a communiqué sent to the Bihar Congress, Venugopal stated, "Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has also approved the proposal for the appointment of presidents of the restructured district Congress committees (DCCs) in Bihar with immediate effect."
Key Appointments in Patna and Other Districts
The appointments cover a wide range of districts, with notable leaders taking charge of key committees. In Patna, the new presidents include Chandan Kumar for Patna Rural-1 DCC, Gurjit Singh for Patna Rural-2, Kumar Ashish for Patna Urban, and Afroz Alam for Patna Rural. These selections highlight the party's focus on bolstering its presence in urban and rural areas alike.
Similarly, other districts have seen fresh leadership appointments. Pawan Singh Kushwaha has been appointed DCC president of Bhagalpur, Prakash Garibdas of Begusarai, Shreedhar Tiwari of Bhojpur, Pankaj Kumar Upadhyaya of Buxar, Mithilesh Choudhary of Darbhanga Rural, and Jamal Hassan of Darbhanga Urban.
Further Appointments Across Bihar
The restructuring extends to additional districts, with Rajneesh Kumar appointed as DCC president of Gaya, Om Prakash Garg of Gopalganj, Kumar Adiya of Purnia Urban, Afroz Alam of Purnia Rural, Akhilesh Dayal of Motihari, and Jai Prakash Pandey of Rohtas, among others. This comprehensive overhaul aims to ensure effective leadership at the district level, enhancing the party's outreach and operational efficiency.
The Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, a key component of the Congress's strategy, seeks to rebuild and strengthen the party's organizational framework across India. By appointing these presidents, the Congress aims to create a more robust and responsive structure in Bihar, which is crucial for upcoming political challenges and elections.
This move underscores the party's commitment to revitalizing its grassroots presence and improving coordination between state and national leadership. The immediate effect of these appointments is expected to bring renewed energy and focus to the Congress's activities in Bihar, as it prepares for future electoral battles.
