Congress Levels Serious Allegations Against Mahayuti Government in Chandrapur
Congress spokesperson Hanumant Pawar launched a fierce attack on the BJP-led Mahayuti government during a campaign event in Chandrapur on Monday. He accused the state administration of systematically draining the fixed deposits of municipal corporations while they operated under administrator rule.
Allegations of Financial Misuse During Administrator Rule
Addressing media representatives, Pawar claimed the state government misused its authority in the absence of elected corporators. He stated that financially strong civic bodies saw their fixed deposits diverted or exhausted during this period.
"All these municipal corporations were directly under the control of the chief minister's office," Pawar alleged. "The fixed deposits were withdrawn in a planned and systematic manner during the administrator raj."
The Congress leader provided specific numbers to support his claims. He revealed that out of 29 municipal corporations placed under administrator rule, fixed deposits from 21 corporations were withdrawn or exhausted over the past three-and-a-half years.
Pawar emphasized that citizens remained unaware of these financial moves. He explained that without elected representatives, nobody could question the administration's decisions effectively.
Concerns Over Electoral Roll Irregularities
The Congress spokesperson also raised serious concerns about electoral roll problems in Chandrapur. He claimed genuine voters faced multiple issues during recent assembly elections.
According to Pawar, names of legitimate voters were either misplaced, shifted to distant localities, or deleted completely. He expressed frustration that the same flawed electoral rolls were being used again without addressing his party's objections.
"City, block and booth-level Congress workers filed several complaints," Pawar stated. "But local election officers failed to respond. Despite repeated representations, the issue remains unresolved."
Internal Dissatisfaction Within BJP Unit
Pawar pointed to growing discontent within the BJP's Chandrapur unit as evidence of broader problems. He cited two specific incidents to support his observation.
The Congress leader mentioned the removal of city BJP president Subhash Kasangattuwar from his position. He also referenced the disruption of revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule's rally by disgruntled BJP workers.
"Instead of focusing on local civic issues, BJP leaders are busy with self-promotion," Pawar criticized. "They keep highlighting the work of the central and state governments. Their campaign lacks real substance for Chandrapur's voters."
Congress Presents Alternative Vision
Asserting his party's commitment to solving local problems, Pawar said Congress has offered concrete solutions for Chandrapur's civic challenges. He highlighted the party's candidate selection strategy for the upcoming municipal corporation elections.
The Congress has fielded several young candidates under strong leadership, according to Pawar. He expressed strong confidence in his party's electoral prospects despite the current challenges.
Pawar predicted Congress would win at least 40 of the 66 seats in the municipal corporation. He framed this as a rejection of the current administration's approach to municipal governance.
The allegations come at a crucial time as Chandrapur prepares for municipal corporation elections. Pawar's statements reflect growing political tensions in the region over local governance issues.
