According to police reports released on Monday, three suspects operating a roadside momo stall at Dumri Chauraha in Deoria meticulously groomed the boy's confidence over time. The vendors reportedly used food as bait, building a rapport with the seventh-grade student who resides in the village for his schooling. This calculated approach eventually led the child to access and hand over the high-value family ornaments.
The theft came to light when the boy's sister searched for her belongings and discovered the storage unit completely empty. Under questioning from stunned family members, the young student confessed to surrendering the jewellery in exchange for the popular street snacks.
Formal Complaint Filed at Rampur Karkhana Police Station
A formal complaint was promptly filed at the Rampur Karkhana police station in Deoria by the boy's father, Vimlesh Mishra, who serves as a priest in Varanasi. Mishra's report detailed how the three suspects vanished with the family's precious ornaments after executing their scheme.
"The father noted that the stolen items belonged to both his children," authorities confirmed, emphasizing the personal and financial magnitude of the loss suffered by the family.
Police Investigation Intensifies as Suspects Remain at Large
Station House Officer Devendra Kumar Singh confirmed that legal proceedings were immediately initiated following Mishra's statement. Separate Bareilly Tragedy: Wife and Family Accused of Murder Disguised as Suicide
In another disturbing incident from Uttar Pradesh, authorities in Bareilly reported a gruesome case where a 33-year-old man was allegedly strangled to death by his wife while her parents and brother restrained him. The victim, identified as Jitendra Kumar Yadav of Etawah, was discovered hanging at his leased residence within the Izzat Nagar police jurisdiction on January 26.
Initially treated as a potential suicide, the case took a dramatic turn when a formal complaint from the victim's brother, Ajay Kumar, prompted a thorough investigation. "The postmortem report confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation," revealed Circle Officer Pankaj Srivastava, completely dismissing the suicide theory.
Police subsequently charged the accused with murder after apprehending the wife, Jyoti, and her parents, Kalicharan and Chameli, from the Durga Nagar area on Saturday. Law enforcement is currently pursuing Jyoti's brother, Deepak, who is also implicated in the crime.
During questioning, Jyoti reportedly disclosed that the couple had been acquaintances since their student years and married last year with parental approval. At the time of the incident, Jitendra held a contract position at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), while Jyoti served as a contract conductor for the state's transport corporation.
