A devastating road accident in Chennai's Pallikaranai area on Sunday morning resulted in the death of a 10-year-old boy after a speeding water tanker collided with the motorcycle on which he was riding pillion with his father. According to officials from the Pallikaranai traffic investigation wing, the accident occurred around 8:30 AM on Velachery Main Road. The victim, identified as Ram, was the only son of Subramani, a 39-year-old IT professional. Police reports indicate that a private water tanker was traveling behind their motorcycle when another bike approached from the opposite direction.
In an attempt to avoid a potential collision, Subramani swerved the motorcycle, inadvertently bringing it into contact with the water tanker. The impact was severe: Subramani was thrown off the vehicle, sustaining injuries, while Ram fell beneath the tanker's wheels and died instantly at the scene.
Aftermath and Community Impact
Subramani was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.
