Bus Accident Near Dahod Leaves 29 Passengers Injured

In a distressing incident early Wednesday morning, at least 29 passengers sustained injuries after a speeding bus veered off the highway following a tyre burst near Dahod. The bus, which was en route from Morbi to Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, met with the accident on the Ahmedabad–Indore National Highway.

Details of the Incident

The bus had commenced its journey from Morbi and was carrying several passengers when the mishap occurred near Rabdal village, close to Dahod town. The highway in this region traverses through hilly terrain, with the road elevated and land sloping on one side.

According to officials, the sudden tyre burst caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Consequently, the bus swerved off the highway and slid down the slope for a considerable distance before coming to a halt.

Swift Rescue Operations

Commuters and residents from nearby villages promptly rushed to the accident site and initiated rescue efforts to extricate passengers from the bus. Locals alerted the police and the 108 Emergency Service, leading to the swift arrival of police teams and personnel from the Dahod Fire Brigade at the location to carry out coordinated rescue operations.

The injured passengers were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Sources indicated that most of the passengers suffered only minor injuries and were discharged after receiving first aid. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in this incident.

Aftermath and Recovery

Following the rescue operations, the bus was later lifted back onto the road with the assistance of a crane. The authorities are likely to conduct further investigations to ascertain the exact cause of the tyre burst and to prevent such occurrences in the future.

This accident underscores the importance of vehicle maintenance and cautious driving, especially on highways with challenging terrains. The prompt response from locals and emergency services played a crucial role in minimizing the severity of the incident.
