A 19-year-old BTech student tragically lost his life after falling from the Secunderabad East Metro Station in Hyderabad on Friday evening. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a police investigation.
Details of the Deceased and the Incident
The deceased has been identified as Nityateja, the elder son of Kokkonda Rajeshwar Rao, a 50-year-old teacher who resides in Venkatasai Nagar, Chengicharla, located in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district. According to reports from the Gopalapuram police, Nityateja left his home on Friday afternoon, informing his father that he was heading to Ameerpet to meet a friend.
At approximately 5:15 pm, his father contacted him and requested that he share his live location via WhatsApp. The student complied, sending the location at around 5:16 pm. However, the situation took a grim turn later in the evening.
Police Response and Hospitalization
The incident came to light when Rajeshwar Rao attempted to call his son again at about 7:57 pm. To his shock, the call was answered by personnel from the Gopalapuram police station, who informed him that his son had fallen from the first platform at the Secunderabad East Metro Station.
Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and the young student was immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital for medical attention. Despite the swift response, doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival, confirming the tragic outcome.
