BRS Jagtial Rally Marks Political Comeback, Criticizes BJP

BRS Announces Strategic Jagtial Rally to Reignite Political Momentum

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has declared that its political resurgence will commence from Jagtial, a town historically part of Karimnagar district, with a significant public gathering scheduled for April 20. This event marks a pivotal moment as former Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy is set to formally join the BRS in the presence of party supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

Leadership Reviews Preparations Amid Allegations of Government Interference

BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) and deputy floor leader T Harish Rao, along with other senior party figures, conducted a thorough review of the arrangements for the upcoming rally on Saturday. KTR emphasized the historical significance of the location, noting that KCR initiated the separate Telangana movement with the 'Simha Garjana' public meeting and launched the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now BRS) in Karimnagar on May 17, 2001.

In a press interaction, KTR alleged that the state government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is attempting to obstruct the massive public meeting planned for April 20 in Jagtial. He criticized Revanth Reddy for what he described as diversionary tactics, pointing out that the Chief Minister, who neglected the Medigadda project for two years, is now planning a visit there on the same day. "This is a clear attempt to shift public attention away from our rally," KTR asserted.

He further accused Revanth Reddy of engaging in "silly politics" due to his failure to fulfill electoral promises, suggesting that the government's actions are a response to the growing anticipation for KCR's address, which will be his first major public speech in a year.

Strengthening Party Base in North Telangana

Harish Rao highlighted that Jeevan Reddy's decision to join the BRS will substantially bolster the party's influence in north Telangana. He observed a shifting political sentiment across the state, with increasing public expressions of "Revanth Reddy must go, KCR must return." This rally is positioned as a catalyst for the party's revival, echoing its origins in the region.

BRS Condemns BJP MP's Remarks on Telangana Formation

In a separate development, Harish Rao strongly denounced BJP MP Tejasvi Surya for drawing a comparison between Telangana's formation and the India-Pakistan partition, labeling it an insult to the self-respect of four crore people of the state. He clarified that Telangana was established constitutionally under Article 3 following a prolonged democratic struggle.

"Insulting its formation is an insult to the sacrifices of its people," Harish Rao stated, criticizing Union minister Kishan Reddy for defending the remarks instead of condemning them. He demanded an unconditional apology from the BJP and expressed disappointment over the silence of Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana in Parliament.

Harish Rao commended BRS MPs in the Rajya Sabha for vigorously countering misleading statements by Union ministers and ensuring corrections in official records, underscoring the party's commitment to safeguarding Telangana's dignity.

The Jagtial rally is poised to be a defining event in Telangana's political landscape, combining strategic alliances, historical symbolism, and a firm stance against perceived insults to the state's identity.
