A portion of a minor bridge lacking a guardrail, which connected the Ramgarh-Bokaro national highway-23 from Kothar locality under ward no. 29 of Ramgarh Municipal Council (RMC), caved in on Monday. Officials on Tuesday confirmed that movement through the bridge has been halted for safety reasons. The bridge also served as a link between jail road and the Kothar area.
Officials Respond to Bridge Collapse
Azmal Hussain, the executive officer of RMC, stated that a team will conduct a ground inspection soon and take necessary steps for repair or reconstruction of the damaged structure. He assured that an alternate road is available for routine movements, minimizing disruption to daily commuters.
Local Authorities Take Action
Ramesh Mahto, the ward member, visited the site and reported that an alternate path has been arranged for the movement of two-wheelers and pedestrians. The collapse has raised concerns about the maintenance of aging infrastructure in the region.
Authorities urge residents to use the designated alternative routes until the bridge is either repaired or rebuilt. Further updates are expected after the inspection team submits its report.
