BJP Lodges Formal Police Complaint Over Pastor's Questionable Video Claims in Navi Mumbai

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken official action by filing a formal complaint with the office of the Maharashtra state Director General of Police (DGP). The complaint centers on a video posted by a man identifying himself as a pastor, which contains a series of extraordinary and potentially misleading assertions.

Details of the Complaint and the Accusations

The complaint was formally submitted on Saturday by Azim Khan, who serves as the vice-president of the BJP's Minorities Morcha for Thane City. In his submission, Khan urged the police authorities to thoroughly investigate the claims made in the video and to register a formal case if the statements are found to be fabricated or false.

The individual in question, identified as Vishal Moreshwar, makes several bold declarations in the video. He asserts that he has traveled to 79 different countries and has conducted an astonishing 40,000 Gospel meetings globally. Furthermore, Moreshwar claims the unique distinction of being the sole person granted the honor of delivering the Gospel message within the hallowed halls of the White House, the Pentagon, and the US Senate.

Perhaps the most politically sensitive claim involves Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Moreshwar alleges that on September 23, 2024, he attended a meeting in New York alongside the Indian Prime Minister.

Legal Scrutiny and Calls for Action

Adding legal weight to the complaint, advocate Sanjay Singh, one of the complainants, has formally requested that the DGP's office treat this matter with the utmost seriousness. The call for a police verification underscores concerns that such public claims, if unverified or false, could mislead the public and potentially misuse religious or political narratives.

The BJP's move to involve the state's highest police official indicates the party's intent to have the claims scrutinized through official channels rather than through political or media discourse alone. The outcome of any police verification could determine whether the case proceeds to a formal First Information Report (FIR) for further legal action.

This incident highlights the ongoing vigilance by political entities regarding public statements made by individuals claiming significant influence or access, especially when such claims intersect with national figures and international diplomacy. The authorities in Navi Mumbai and Thane are now tasked with examining the veracity of these widespread claims made by the self-proclaimed pastor.
