BJP Mobilizes 40 Star Campaigners Including PM Modi and Amit Shah for Assam Assembly Elections

In a major push for the upcoming Assam assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured approval for a formidable lineup of 40 star campaigners, as confirmed by state president Dilip Saikia. The list, which includes top national leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has been formally approved by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Approved Campaigners and Strategic Rallies

Saikia detailed that the party submitted the list to its central committee, which then forwarded it to the chief election commissioner. Besides PM Modi and Amit Shah, the roster features prominent figures like:

  • National president Nitin Nabin
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
  • Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari
  • Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
  • Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan
  • Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju

Additionally, the BJP has requested the participation of chief ministers from other states, including Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra, Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, and Mohan Charan Majhi of Odisha, to bolster its campaign efforts.

Strategic rallies are already in the planning stages, with proposals sent to the central committee for events led by Rajnath Singh in Darrang district and Amit Shah in Tangla, Udalguri district. These rallies aim to galvanize support across key regions.

Urgent Campaign Timeline and Electoral Confidence

With the filing of nomination papers concluding on Monday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the need for an immediate campaign launch. "We are putting effort to begin our campaign from Tuesday, a day after the last date of filing the nomination papers, as there is very less time for the polls," Sarma stated. He noted that political parties typically take a brief gap after nominations, but the BJP plans to move forward without delay, given the tight schedule of only 16 days until the polls.

Expressing strong confidence in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)'s prospects, Sarma projected a potential victory in 104 out of 126 seats. "The picture will be clear once we begin the campaign," he added, highlighting the party's optimism based on past governance achievements.

Focus on Development and Peace in Dima Hasao

During a media interaction in Dima Hasao, Sarma urged voters to support BJP candidate Rupali Langthasa in the Haflong constituency, the sole seat in the district. He credited the BJP-led government with establishing peace and driving significant development in the hilly region. "Peace has been established in the district after the BJP-led govt was formed in the state. Moreover, the hilly district has also seen enormous development under the BJP-led govt," Sarma asserted.

Langthasa is set to file her nomination papers on Monday, marking a key step in the party's electoral strategy. The BJP's aggressive campaign approach, backed by high-profile leaders, underscores its commitment to securing a strong mandate in the single-phase assembly polls scheduled for next month.
