In a significant move to boost industrial growth and employment opportunities, the Bihar government has announced plans to acquire 280 acres of land belonging to the Ashok Paper Mill in Patna. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary made this announcement while addressing a public gathering in Darbhanga during the Samridhi Yatra of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday.
Focus on Employment Generation and Industrial Expansion
Samrat Choudhary emphasized that after establishing a strong foundation in essential sectors such as health, education, roads, electricity, and water supply, the government is now shifting its focus towards generating employment. He stated, "For this purpose, a comprehensive network of industries is being established across Bihar. Our objective over the next five years is to create a Bihar where people do not have to migrate for work. Residents of the state should find employment opportunities right here in Bihar itself."
He further elaborated, "With this goal in mind, the government will acquire 280 acres of land from the Ashok Paper Mill and set up new industries on that site." This initiative is part of a broader strategy to transform Bihar into a hub of industrial activity, thereby reducing dependency on out-migration for livelihoods.
Darbhanga's Rapid Development and Future Projects
During his address, Choudhary also highlighted the rapid transformation underway in Darbhanga, attributing it to the combined efforts of both central and state government schemes. He noted that significant projects, including the development of city infrastructure, the establishment of AIIMS, and the airport, have already been implemented on the ground.
Choudhary provided updates on upcoming projects, stating, "The detailed project report (DPR) for the Darbhanga Metro service is currently being prepared. Additionally, the international airport in Darbhanga is expected to become operational within the next year." These developments are poised to enhance connectivity and boost economic activities in the region.
Political Support and Regional Transformation
BJP state president and local MLA Sanjay Saraogi expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the ongoing development initiatives. He remarked, "The entire Mithila region is undergoing a remarkable transformation. As the local MLA, I am particularly delighted to witness the positive changes in my constituency."
Saraogi confidently predicted that upon completion of the current projects, Darbhanga will undergo a dramatic makeover. He asserted, "It will emerge as the second largest city in Bihar after Patna, both in terms of size and the scale of development projects." This vision underscores the government's commitment to decentralizing growth and fostering regional prosperity.
The acquisition of the Ashok Paper Mill land marks a pivotal step in Bihar's industrial policy, aiming to create a self-sustaining economy and provide ample job opportunities for its residents. The government's focus on infrastructure and industrial development is expected to drive long-term economic growth and reduce migration pressures.
