A shocking incident of armed robbery and violence unfolded in Bihar's Saharsa district, leaving a postgraduate student injured. A 35-year-old man pursuing his M.Ed was shot by three criminals on a motorcycle after he refused to hand over money.
Bravery Amidst Gunfire: Victim Rides to Hospital
The attack occurred on Saturday evening near the Menha Petrol Pump. The victim, identified as Neeraj Kumar Mishra, a resident of Jagatpur in the neighbouring Supaul district, was riding his own motorcycle when he was intercepted. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants stopped him and demanded cash. When Neeraj refused to comply, they opened fire.
Three shots were fired, with two bullets striking Neeraj in his thigh. Displaying immense courage and presence of mind, the injured student did not succumb to his wounds. Instead, he managed to ride his bike to a nearby hospital to seek urgent medical help. It was at the hospital that he contacted his friend, Aryant Kumar, and informed him about the traumatic event.
Sequence of Events and Police Probe
According to his friend Aryant, they had visited a bookstore at Thana Chowk earlier that day. Neeraj was on his way back to his native village, Jagatpur, when the criminals targeted him. After firing the shots, the bike-borne trio quickly fled the scene, leaving Neeraj wounded.
The local police were immediately alerted at the hospital. Officers arrived promptly and initiated an investigation into the case. Neeraj was later shifted to a private nursing home for further treatment and better care.
Dr. Ajay Singh, who attended to Neeraj, provided a crucial medical update. He confirmed that two bullets were lodged in the student's thigh. Fortunately, no vital organs were damaged, and his condition is now reported as stable.
