Tragic Accident Claims Life of Pregnant Teacher in Bengaluru

A devastating road accident in Bengaluru has resulted in the death of a 29-year-old teacher who was four months pregnant. The incident occurred early Sunday morning at Gundappa Circle on the Hennur–Bagalur Main Road.

Details of the Fatal Collision

Manasa, a teacher at a private school in Mandur, was riding her scooter towards her examination centre around 6:45 AM. She was on her way to take the Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) at Delhi Public School near Sathanur. To facilitate her exam, she had traveled from her home in Hoskote to stay with relatives in Bagalur.

According to police reports, Manasa was wearing a helmet and riding cautiously when a speeding cement mixer truck struck her from behind. The truck was returning after unloading cement mixture at the KIADB industrial area. The impact caused severe injuries, and Manasa died on the spot.

Arrest and Investigation

The driver of the truck, identified as Ram, a 46-year-old native of West Bengal, was arrested shortly after the accident. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Manasa's relative. Her body was handed over to the family following a post-mortem at Yelahanka government hospital.

Family members revealed to investigators that Manasa was four months pregnant, adding another layer of tragedy to the incident.

Separate Incident: Boy Injured by SUV

In another road safety incident in Bengaluru, an 11-year-old boy was injured on Saturday evening while riding his bicycle near his home at Girinagar First Cross in south Bengaluru.

Police stated that an SUV parked on the roadside began moving suddenly when the driver failed to notice the child. The vehicle hit the bicycle, throwing the boy to the ground. He was promptly rushed to a nearby private hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

A senior police officer mentioned that no formal complaint or medico-legal case memo had been received from the family as of yet. However, CCTV footage from a nearby building has been circulating widely on social media, prompting police to examine the incident independently.

Broader Implications for Road Safety

These back-to-back incidents highlight ongoing concerns about road safety in Bengaluru. The tragic death of a pregnant teacher en route to a professional examination underscores the vulnerability of two-wheeler riders on busy roads. Meanwhile, the injury to a young cyclist near his home raises questions about driver awareness and parking safety protocols.

Authorities continue to investigate both cases, with the cement mixer truck driver already in custody and police proactively reviewing the SUV incident due to public attention on social media.
