Bengaluru Mother Poisons Sons, Attempts Suicide

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a woman allegedly poisoned her two young sons to death before attempting to take her own life following a family dispute in north Bengaluru. The Yeshwantpur police identified the woman as Pavithra, 26, a homemaker originally from Pavagada in Tumakuru district.

Details of the Incident

According to the police, Pavithra administered rat poison to her sons, Nivedh C (4) and Nirmal C (2), at their residence in HMT Layout, Mathikere, late on Saturday night. The preliminary investigation revealed that earlier in the evening, Pavithra and her husband, Prashanth, a sales executive at an electronics store, had argued over a trivial issue. Disturbed by the conflict, Prashanth left the home.

Sequence of Events

After poisoning the children, Pavithra is believed to have consumed poison herself and then gone to sleep in a separate room. Prashanth returned home around midnight and slept in the hall, unaware of the tragic events. In the early hours of the morning, Pavithra reportedly woke up and informed Prashanth about what she had done. Prashanth immediately rushed all three to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared the children brought dead. Pavithra is currently undergoing treatment.
