In a significant push for industrial growth, the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) of Andhra Pradesh, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has given its nod to a fresh wave of investments. During its 14th meeting held on Tuesday, the board approved 14 major investment proposals with a combined value of Rs 19,391 crore.
Massive Job Creation and Cumulative Investment Milestone
These newly approved projects are projected to generate 11,753 new employment opportunities across several high-potential sectors, including tourism, food processing, and energy. This latest approval further bolsters the state's impressive investment track record. To date, the SIPB has cleared projects worth a staggering Rs 8.75 lakh crore, which have the potential to create 8.36 lakh jobs for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister Naidu, addressing officials, highlighted that the successful teamwork in 2025 was key to these outcomes and urged them to maintain the same momentum in 2026 to secure maximum investments. He credited the seamless coordination between the political leadership and the bureaucracy for making the state a preferred investment destination. Naidu pointed to major announcements by corporate giants like Google, Tata Group, Jindal, Birla Group, Adani Group, Reliance, TCS, and Cognizant as evidence of this success.
Power Sector Stability and Focus on Tourism & Food Processing
The Chief Minister also underscored a major achievement in the power sector, noting the reduction of power tariffs by 13 paise and the government's absorption of the Rs 4,500 crore true-up burden on consumers. He stated that the government is working towards bringing power purchase costs down to as low as Rs 3.7 by 2029. This stability, he emphasized, is crucial for attracting energy-intensive investments like data centres.
Naidu cited the Google AI data centre project in Visakhapatnam as a direct result of persistent engagement with investors. Turning to tourism, he issued directives for preparing a comprehensive master plan for beach tourism, with special attention to Suryalanka. He proposed developing the beach frontage over a 15km stretch as a pollution-free zone and exploring island tourism near Sullurpet. The plan also includes strengthening existing tourism clusters like Papikondalu-Polavaram, Konaseema, Pulicat, Visakhapatnam, and the Anantapur-Gandikota region.
Stressing the need for more investments in food processing, Naidu called for establishing more units in the Tirupati region to support farmers through value addition and export-oriented production.
Infrastructure and Industrial Development Directives
The Chief Minister issued several other important directives to officials during the meeting. These include:
- Preparing additional industrial land near the Kopparthi electronics manufacturing cluster.
- Expediting the launch of a state employment portal.
- Planning for a space city project requiring around 5,000 acres.
- Developing an industrial park near Makavarapalem to attract food parks and aluminium downstream industries.
Following the productive meeting, Chief Minister Naidu launched the AP IT Infra portal. The SIPB meeting was attended by ministers Nara Lokesh, Atchannaidu, Payyavula Keshav, Gottipati Ravi, Anagani Satya Prasad, and Narayana, along with Chief Secretary K Vijayanand and other senior officials.
