Annamalai Calls on Christian and Muslim Voters to Dismiss DMK's 'Hate Campaign'

Former BJP state president K Annamalai made a direct appeal to Christian and Muslim voters on Monday, urging them not to fall for what he termed the DMK's "hate campaign." He emphasized that the BJP government at the Centre operates with national interest as its guiding principle, contrasting it with what he described as divisive politics by the DMK.

Campaigning in Salem North: Allegations of Misgovernance

While campaigning for AIADMK-BJP alliance candidate S Sadasivam of the PMK in the Salem North assembly constituency, Annamalai launched a scathing attack on the DMK's rule. He alleged a complete lack of progress under the DMK administration, pointing to specific issues such as poorly maintained roads and open sewerage systems in local bodies controlled by the party.

Annamalai further criticized the Salem Municipal Corporation, accusing it of misgovernance. He highlighted that property tax had skyrocketed by an alarming 275% without any corresponding improvements in development or basic amenities for residents. This, he argued, is a clear indicator of the DMK's failure to deliver on its promises and manage public funds effectively.

Rally in Rasipuram: Focus on Development and Public Service

Later, at a rally in Rasipuram in support of BJP candidate D Premkumar, Annamalai declared that Tamil Nadu is on the brink of a historic election. He praised Premkumar's grassroots efforts, noting that the candidate had organized medical camps in over 700 locations across Tamil Nadu over the past two years.

Expressing strong confidence in the electorate, Annamalai stated that the people of Rasipuram would rally behind "a man who works with the people in the field," ensuring his success. He contrasted this with the DMK government's alleged neglect, claiming that proper bus facilities had not been provided in the Rasipuram area for the last five years, further underscoring the party's failure to address basic infrastructure needs.

Broader Political Context

Annamalai's remarks come amid intense campaigning in Tamil Nadu, where the BJP is seeking to strengthen its alliance with the AIADMK and challenge the DMK's dominance. His focus on appealing to minority voters and highlighting local governance issues reflects a strategic effort to broaden the BJP's support base and critique the incumbent DMK administration on tangible grounds.

The allegations of misgovernance, coupled with calls for unity and development, aim to position the BJP as a viable alternative focused on national interest and effective public service, rather than divisive politics.
