Akhilesh Yadav Levels Serious Allegations Against BJP Government
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party government on Tuesday, making significant claims about the vandalism of statues honoring Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Yadav asserted that the maximum number of Ambedkar statues have been desecrated during the BJP's ten-year tenure at the national level.
Allegations of Political Opportunism
The opposition leader accused the ruling party of attempting to send what he called a "false message" to voters ahead of upcoming elections through budgetary announcements. "The most statues of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar have been vandalised during the BJP government's ten-year rule," Yadav stated emphatically.
He continued with a pointed criticism: "Today, the same people responsible for the vandalism are trying to send a false message before the elections by providing budgetary support. But the people of Uttar Pradesh are wise and cautious."
Context of Ambedkar's Legacy
Yadav's remarks came on the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, who was born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Ambedkar is widely regarded as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and remains a towering figure in the fight for social justice and Dalit rights across the nation.
The Samajwadi Party chief emphasized that discrimination persists against marginalized communities. "Even today, discrimination against Dalits, backward classes, and especially against the PDA continues," he declared, referring to the Pichhda (backward), Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (minority) communities.
Criticism of Noida Situation
Yadav also targeted the Uttar Pradesh government over recent unrest in Noida, where workers' protests over minimum wage demands turned violent on Monday. The demonstrations escalated into incidents of stone-pelting and arson following clashes with police personnel.
"What happened in Noida happened because of the failure of this government," Yadav alleged. "The government knew about it, and despite that, they allowed it to happen. If this is a conspiracy, then the Chief Minister and the BJP are responsible for this."
Political Vision for 2027
The opposition leader concluded with a bold prediction about the state's political future. "The BJP is going to be removed in 2027, and we will all work together to establish the rule of social justice," Yadav proclaimed, outlining his party's vision for governance in Uttar Pradesh.
These comments come amid ongoing protests by workers in Noida who are demanding implementation of minimum wage standards, highlighting broader issues of labor rights and economic justice in the state.
