Akhilesh: BJP Jittery Over SP's PDA, Haunted in Dreams

Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP of Being "Jittery" Over SP's PDA Strategy

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a sharp critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging that the ruling party is "jittery" about his party's PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) outreach. Yadav claimed this issue is "haunting the saffron leadership in their dreams", highlighting the escalating political tensions in Uttar Pradesh.

BJP Leaders' Counterattacks Spark SP Response

Yadav's remarks came in direct response to recent statements from BJP leaders. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had accused opposition parties of using PDA merely as an electoral tool to woo various castes, while BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary derisively termed it the "Parivar Development Authority", suggesting it served only one political family.

"They (BJP leadership) are jittery about the PDA. They will not understand what PDA is. What can you expect from those who don't know the full form of artificial intelligence (AI)," Akhilesh told media persons, drawing a pointed comparison to mock the BJP's understanding of political strategies.

Rukmani Nishad's Appointment as Catalyst for BJP Anxiety

The SP chief specifically pointed to his party's recent appointment of Rukmani Nishad, elder sister of former MP Phoolan Devi, as state president of the SP Mahila Sabha. "Rukmani Devi's appointment has unsettled the BJP," Yadav asserted. "We now have a person from the 'aadhi abadi' (women who represent half of the Indian population) to strongly represent the Nishad community in the party."

Yadav claimed this appointment has been widely welcomed within the community and beyond, strengthening the party's grassroots connection with marginalized groups that form the core of the PDA framework.

Historical Commitment to Proportional Representation

Elaborating on his party's philosophy, Akhilesh emphasized that the SP has consistently demanded share to every community as per their population percentage since its inception. "The party has been following this line since the very beginning when Netaji mooted this idea first," he said, referring to party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.

To illustrate this commitment, Yadav contrasted his party's leadership with the BJP's: "...the BJP does not have a leader from the Pal community. We have our state president Shyam Lal Pal who is the tallest leader of his community."

Demand for Probe into UP Government's Investment MoUs

In a separate but related development, Akhilesh Yadav demanded a comprehensive investigation into all Memoranda of Understanding signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and various companies. He claimed most investment-related MoUs were merely part of a publicity campaign rather than genuine commitments.

"BJP govt has signed most of the MoUs with companies that do not have financial standing to match the investments that they had promised. SP demands a probe into all the MoUs and the financial background of such companies," he declared.

Accusations of Propaganda-Driven Governance

The SP leader didn't mince words in his criticism of the BJP's governance style, describing it as a party that "operates on events and propaganda." Drawing a historical parallel, he remarked: "In Hitler's regime, there was only one propaganda minister. But in BJP govt at the Centre and states, all ministers and office bearers are propaganda ministers and think of themselves as the PM."

Yadav concluded with a biting assessment: "When it comes to lying, the BJP bags the first position." This comprehensive critique underscores the intensifying political battle in Uttar Pradesh as parties position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
