AAP Unveils Ambitious Outreach Drive in Punjab Targeting 2027 Assembly Elections
In a strategic move aimed at the 2027 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a comprehensive outreach campaign across Punjab. Punjab AAP President Aman Arora revealed on Wednesday that the party will conduct 16,000 jan sabhas (people's gatherings) over a span of 10 days, starting from Thursday. This initiative is designed to raise public awareness about the work accomplished by the state government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's leadership over the past four years.
Campaign Details and Government Achievements Highlighted
Arora emphasized that the campaign will mark the fourth anniversary of CM Bhagwant Mann's government, showcasing what he described as transparent, accountable, and people-centric governance. He asserted that the AAP administration has transformed key sectors across Punjab, delivering significant benefits to residents.
The outreach effort will involve a wide array of participants, including ministers, MLAs, chairpersons, sarpanches, panches, municipal councillors, district presidents, and party volunteers. These individuals will fan out across every village, street, and household to present the government's "report card" directly to the people.
Presenting a detailed account of achievements, Arora highlighted several flagship programs:
- Health Insurance: Every family in Punjab now has health insurance coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh, a scheme touted as unparalleled in the country.
- Healthcare Infrastructure: Schools and hospitals have been completely revamped, with 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) already operational and over 100 more set to be inaugurated soon, bringing the total to 1,000 clinics.
- Sports Development: The government has constructed 3,000 sports stadia, with an additional 6,000 under construction. Arora projected that by the end of the five-year term, every village will have a stadium to promote physical activity and deter drug use among children, youth, and elders.
- Road Infrastructure: Despite the Centre withholding over Rs 8,300 crore of the Rural Development Fund (RDF), the state government is building over 40,000 kilometres of roads. The Sadak Surakhya Force, with a response time of four to five minutes, has been recognized globally and credited with saving thousands of lives.
Commitment to Accountability and Anti-Corruption
Arora underscored the AAP government's commitment to transparency and swift action against wrongdoing, even within its own ranks. He cited recent cases, including the immediate removal and arrest of former minister Laljit Bhullar and the arrest of absconding rape-accused AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra by Punjab Police.
In contrast, he criticized the BJP-led Haryana government for allegedly shielding accused individuals in the ADGP's tragic suicide case from the previous year. Arora also took aim at past Congress and Akali Dal regimes, accusing them of routinely issuing clean chits to leaders facing serious allegations without proper investigations.
"The clarity of Punjab government's intent is evident for all to see. Our government acts swiftly on allegations. We are committed to accountability and do not follow the old culture of shielding those in power," Arora stated. He added that the AAP government has the courage to speak the truth, acknowledge wrongdoing, and uphold integrity, setting a new benchmark in governance.
This outreach campaign is poised to be a pivotal element in AAP's strategy to consolidate support and communicate its achievements directly to voters as the party gears up for the 2027 electoral battle in Punjab.
