The Khanna police have successfully traced four teenage girls, including three minor sisters, who went missing from their native Sihar village in the Payal Assembly segment on Tuesday. The recovery was announced on Thursday, with officials claiming the case was solved within 24 hours after the arrest of the main suspect, Satnam Singh, who was closely associated with the victims' family.
Investigation and Recovery
DSP Payal, Harmanpreet Singh Cheema, stated that a coordinated probe involving human and technical intelligence was launched by the Payal subdivision and cybercrime cell under the supervision of SSP Darpan Ahluwalia. This led to the recovery of the girls from Ambala on Wednesday.
Women Commission Takes Suo Motu Notice
Amid a spurt in such incidents, the Punjab State Commission for Women has taken suo motu notice of reports regarding girls missing from localities under the jurisdiction of the Ludhiana police commissionerate. The commission has asked for a detailed report.
In a communication addressed to the Commissioner of Police, the commission chairperson requested an investigation by a senior functionary and a report by June 8. The commission reiterated its commitment to ensuring the protection of rights and safety of all women.
