Police in Kozhikode have registered a case following a complaint that unidentified persons dumped septic tank waste into a household well at Pattani near Nadapuram. The well is located at the residence of Manojan, an RMP worker, in Thumpolipoyil.
Incident Details
The contamination came to light around noon when a neighbour noticed a change in the colour of the water and raised the alarm. Manojan and his younger brother rely on the well for their daily water needs, leaving both families without drinking water following the incident.
Political Allegations
Thooneri panchayat UDF committee alleged that the act was a case of political retaliation linked to Manojan's active campaigning for UDF during the assembly elections. Manojan also claimed he had received threats from CPM workers. The UDF committee strongly condemned the incident and demanded that those responsible be brought to justice at the earliest.
