The state government of Odisha on Friday suspended Bhupinder Singh, additional tehsildar of Khariar in Nuapada district, and initiated disciplinary proceedings against him under the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962.

Singh, an Odisha Revenue Service officer, will remain under suspension pending further action. During this period, his headquarters has been fixed at the office of the revenue divisional commissioner (RDC), North division, Sambalpur, as per a government statement.

The statement further notes that Singh has been directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority. As per the Odisha Service Code, he will receive subsistence allowance during the suspension period.
