Bokaro's Road Safety Drive Focuses on Cat's Eyes & Reflective Tape
Bokaro Intensifies Road Safety Outreach on Highways

Authorities in Bokaro district have ramped up their road safety initiatives as part of the ongoing Road Safety Month and Awareness Campaign. The focus of a special drive held on Thursday was on enhancing safety along national and State highways through direct engagement with motorists.

Direct Outreach on Highways

Members of the District Road Safety Committee took to the highways to interact directly with drivers. Their mission was to explain how implementing simple, cost-effective safety measures can dramatically improve road safety, particularly after dark. The committee emphasized two key technologies: cat's eyes and reflective tape.

The Crucial Role of Cat's Eyes

Deputy Commissioner of Bokaro, Ajay Nath Jha, detailed the importance of cat's eyes, which are small reflective studs embedded into road surfaces. He explained that these devices are critical for guiding drivers during low-light conditions, fog, or rain. By clearly marking lane dividers and road edges, they help motorists maintain their lane and make safer lane changes, especially on high-speed corridors where the risk of collision is greater.

Enhancing Visibility with Reflective Tape

The committee also stressed the significance of reflective tape. This material is commonly applied to vehicles, roadside barricades, parked cars, and dangerous curves. An official from the committee stated that this tape significantly boosts visibility at night and during poor weather, which directly contributes to lowering the probability of accidents. Beyond its practical function, it also acts as a constant visual prompt for drivers to remain alert and cautious.

The proactive drive underlines the district administration's commitment to reducing accidents through awareness and the promotion of essential safety infrastructure. The clear message to all road users is that these simple measures are vital for protecting lives on increasingly busy roads.
