CM Yogi Adityanath: India Reclaiming Sanatan Heritage Under PM Modi's Leadership
In a significant address from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Sunday that the nation is now firmly on the path to reclaiming its illustrious Sanatan heritage. He emphasized that despite enduring repeated foreign invasions over centuries, the foundational strength of India's cultural identity has remained unshaken and resilient.
Flagging Off Special Somnath Yatra Train
The Chief Minister made these remarks while flagging off a special train carrying over a thousand devotees from Uttar Pradesh to the Somnath Temple in Gujarat for the Somnath Swabhiman Parva. Yogi Adityanath highlighted that although a vast majority of Indian citizens yearned for cultural freedom immediately after the country achieved political independence in 1947, these aspirations were systematically suppressed for an extended period.
Leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Yogi Adityanath credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the nation's rapid progress on the developmental front. He asserted that under this guidance, India is poised to re-establish its global identity with renewed self-respect and confidence in the coming years. The spirit of the ancient Sanskrit phrase 'Yato Dharmastato Jayah'—meaning where there is righteousness, there is victory—was cited as a reflection of India's cultural resilience and enduring faith in Sanatan culture.
"A decade ago, few could have imagined the construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. Today, not only across the country but even abroad, people chant 'Jai Shri Ram' with immense pride and devotion," the Chief Minister stated.
Eternal Path of Sanatan Dharma
Elaborating on the timeless nature of Sanatan Dharma, Yogi Adityanath described it as an eternal path that has withstood numerous assaults. "Despite repeated attacks, our faith could neither be broken nor bent by invaders. The first Jyotirlinga at Somnath was attacked centuries ago, looted, desecrated, and damaged. While those attackers have vanished from the pages of history, our vibrant culture continues to thrive and move forward with renewed strength," he proclaimed.
Post-Independence Cultural Freedom
Recalling the pivotal roles of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. Rajendra Prasad in the reconstruction of the Somnath temple after Independence, the Chief Minister drew a clear distinction between political and cultural freedom. He noted that while India attained political sovereignty in 1947, the deep-seated aspiration for true cultural freedom is only now being fulfilled in the contemporary era.
Yogi Adityanath also pointed out that the then Congress leadership had opposed both the reconstruction and the consecration of the Somnath temple. They had even raised objections to the participation of the President of India in the ceremonial events, highlighting historical resistance to cultural revival efforts.
Symbols of India's Cultural Renaissance
The Chief Minister cited several landmark projects as powerful symbols of India's ongoing cultural revival. These include the comprehensive redevelopment of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, the creation of the Vindhyavasini temple corridor, significant infrastructure improvements in the Mathura-Vrindavan region, and the organization of large-scale religious gatherings such as the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
These initiatives, according to Yogi Adityanath, collectively represent a national movement towards reclaiming and celebrating India's ancient heritage and spiritual legacy on a global stage.
