Patna: Leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, on Monday alleged that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated significantly. He claimed that 8,681 children, the majority of them girls, have gone missing in the state in the past month alone. The ruling alliance strongly decried these allegations.
“Today, women, children and ordinary citizens across the entirety of Bihar feel unsafe ... as the law and order situation has deteriorated so badly that 8,681 children have gone missing from the state in just the last one month, of whom 85% are girls,” Tejashwi posted on social media. He further alleged that rape incidents are occurring routinely across the state.
“In Bihar, heinous rape incidents occur daily. In just a few days, more than 75 incidents of rape and gang rape took place... In every district, every day, there are cases of murder, robbery and theft. But despite this, the CM is unable to control crime,” he alleged, citing the recent murder of a NEET student after her alleged rape and the alleged molestation and attempted abduction of a minor girl who had come to Patna to take a polytechnic exam in a hotel.
Furthermore, he claimed that the fear of police and law has completely vanished since Samrat happens to be the “nominated CM”, and not “elected CM”.
Ruling Alliance Responds
Charging Tejashwi with issuing fake crime data to the people, BJP spokesperson Manoj Sharma described Samrat as a “committed CM”, and not “nominated CM”. He added that the new government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards crime. Sharma alleged that the opposition was trying to defame the government and criticized it for adding a “caste touch” to the police action against criminals.
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar questioned Tejashwi’s allegation about the missing children from the state, asking what was his source of the claim.
The political row comes amid heightened concerns over safety in Bihar, with the opposition demanding accountability and the ruling party defending its record.
