Amit Shah Lambasts Congress Over Assam's Development Record
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of doing "nothing" for the development of Assam during its decades-long rule in the state. Speaking at a public rally in Assam, Shah contrasted this alleged neglect with the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
Historical Neglect Versus Modern Progress
Shah asserted that the Congress had ample opportunity to transform Assam but failed to deliver on basic infrastructure, economic growth, and security. He pointed to prolonged periods of Congress governance where development projects stalled and regional issues were ignored. The Home Minister emphasized that this historical neglect created systemic challenges that the current administration is now addressing through targeted policies and increased investment.
"For years, the Congress ruled Assam but did not contribute to its progress. They left the state underdeveloped and insecure," Shah stated, highlighting what he described as a stark contrast between the two parties' approaches. He argued that the BJP's focus on connectivity, industrial growth, and social welfare represents a fundamental shift from the past.
