Patriotic Fervor Marks 77th Republic Day Celebrations Across Tamil Nadu Districts
The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with immense patriotic fervor and grandeur on Monday across five districts in Tamil Nadu: Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Erode. The day was marked by flag-hoisting ceremonies, distribution of welfare assistance, and recognition of outstanding contributions from various individuals.
Salem District: Honors and Welfare Initiatives
In Salem, District Revenue Officer R Ravikumar unfurled the national flag, setting the tone for the celebrations. A significant highlight was the distribution of government welfare assistance totaling Rs 2.36 crore to 36 beneficiaries, aimed at supporting their livelihoods and well-being. The event also saw the release of tricolor balloons, symbolizing national pride.
Honors were bestowed upon the descendants of freedom fighters and language war martyrs, acknowledging their ancestors' sacrifices for the nation. Additionally, 82 rural police personnel, 83 city police personnel, and a Q-branch criminal investigation department officer received the prestigious Chief Minister's Police Medal for their exceptional service.
Earlier, the district administration felicitated Raja Sthapathi, a sculptor from Kannankurichi, who was selected for the Padma Shri award in recognition of his artistic excellence. The DRO also presented certificates of appreciation to 690 officers and 33 principals and teachers, celebrating their dedication to public service and education.
Namakkal District: Awards and Financial Aid
In Namakkal, District Collector Durgamoorthy unfurled the national flag and led the celebrations. She presented Chief Minister's Medals to 53 police constables and certificates to 33 police constables, honoring their commitment to law and order. Furthermore, certificates were awarded to 343 government officers and employees for their excellent service.
Welfare assistance worth Rs 64.56 lakh was provided to 18 beneficiaries, underscoring the government's efforts to support vulnerable sections of society.
Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Erode Districts: Focus on Welfare
In Dharmapuri, District Collector R Sadheesh unfurled the flag and distributed welfare assistance valued at Rs 2.36 lakh to nine beneficiaries, emphasizing grassroots support.
Krishnagiri District Collector S Dinesh Kumar, after unfurling the national flag, delivered welfare assistance amounting to Rs 2.51 crore to 53 beneficiaries, highlighting substantial financial aid for community development.
In Erode, District Collector S Kandasamy presented welfare assistance totaling Rs 1.28 crore to 141 beneficiaries, reinforcing the government's commitment to social welfare across the region.
These celebrations across the districts not only commemorated India's Republic Day but also showcased the ongoing efforts to honor public servants, support citizens through welfare schemes, and recognize cultural and artistic achievements, fostering a spirit of unity and progress.
