In a series of developments, social media platforms were served notices regarding inflammatory content related to the fund collection. At least five people were arrested in connection with the alleged misappropriation of donations. According to police sources, the accused include organizers of online fundraising campaigns who failed to account for the money received.
"We have registered cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act," said a senior police official. The Enforcement Directorate has also launched a preliminary inquiry into the matter.
