Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Hospitalized in Mohali for Exhaustion

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Mohali on Sunday after experiencing health issues during his visit to Sangrur district. This incident marks his third hospital admission since assuming office in March 2022 and the second since September of last year, raising concerns about his well-being amid a demanding political schedule.

Hospital Statement Confirms Routine Evaluation and Stable Condition

In an official statement released later in the evening, Fortis Hospital clarified that Mann visited the facility for a routine medical evaluation. The hospital detailed that he underwent a comprehensive clinical assessment and standard diagnostic investigations. All vital parameters were reported as stable and within normal limits. According to the statement, Mann is currently experiencing exhaustion and has been admitted for observation and supportive care. His condition remains stable, and he is under the supervision of a multidisciplinary medical team.

Details of the Incident and Political Context

Earlier in the day, Mann had attended Mahashivaratri celebrations at Shri Rannkeshwar Mahadev Shiv Mandir in Ranike village, located in the Dhuri sub-division of Sangrur. He was accompanied by AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and party leader Manish Sisodia. After the event, Mann flew back to Mohali and was taken to the hospital shortly thereafter. Sources indicated that his blood pressure was found to be high following complaints of uneasiness.

As a result, Mann cut short his planned visit to Fazilka, where he was scheduled to offer condolences to the family of Sandeep Gilhotra, the father-in-law of AAP leader and Punjab minister Aman Arora. Gilhotra had passed away on Friday after a brief illness. Although arrangements had been made for a possible media interaction, the chief minister left without speaking to reporters.

Previous Hospitalizations and Health History

This is not the first time Mann has faced health challenges while in office. He was previously admitted to the same hospital on September 5, 2025, with symptoms including exhaustion, viral fever, low heart rate, and electrolyte imbalance. During that admission, he resumed official work from the hospital after several days of observation. His first hospitalization as chief minister occurred in September 2024, when he was treated for a bacterial infection and discharged following observation.

When contacted, former Punjab minister and AAP spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal mentioned that he learned the chief minister was taken to the hospital due to a blood pressure problem, aligning with the sources' reports of high blood pressure during the incident.

The repeated hospitalizations highlight the physical demands of Mann's role and underscore the importance of health management for public officials. Medical experts often stress that such conditions can be exacerbated by stress and fatigue, common in high-pressure political environments.
