AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Levels Serious Allegations Against BJP Government
In a fiery address at a Jalsa-e-Youm-ul-Quran meeting held at a mosque in Talab Katta within Hyderabad's Old City on Friday, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government. The Hyderabad MP accused the administration of financially supporting organizations that allegedly speak against the Indian Constitution and target the Muslim community.
Allegations of Government Funding for Anti-Constitutional Activities
Owaisi specifically alleged that the Centre had disbursed a substantial sum of ₹63 lakh to an organization he identified as 'Sanatan Samstha'. This funding was reportedly for a programme that was attended by both Union and state ministers. The AIMIM leader claimed that the speeches delivered at this event contained highly inflammatory content.
"The speeches at the event included calls to do away with the present form of the Constitution, convert Muslims, and transform India into a 'Hindu rashtra'. The participants reportedly spoke of deporting Muslims. They also discussed that fear of the govt should be instilled in the community so that they quit Islam," Owaisi stated during his address.
He expressed strong criticism over the utilization of public funds for such programmes, highlighting a perceived contradiction in government priorities. "The govt claimed it lacked money for welfare schemes like mid-day meals, yet it finds funds to support events promoting hatred and constitutional subversion," Owaisi remarked, questioning the allocation of taxpayer money.
Defiant Stance on Muslim Presence in India
Addressing the allegations made against the organization, Owaisi delivered a resolute message regarding the Muslim community's place in the nation. He asserted that no power in the world could remove Muslims from Hindustan and emphasized that the rule of law must prevail above all else. The MP further targeted the BJP and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of frequently raising anti-Muslim issues while maintaining silence on controversial international figures like former US President Donald Trump.
Demand for PM Modi's Clarification on Iranian Warship Incident
Shifting focus to international affairs, Owaisi raised serious questions regarding the reported sinking of the Iranian frigate 'IRIS Dena' by US forces. According to recent reports, the warship was torpedoed near Sri Lanka after it had previously docked at the Indian port of Visakhapatnam. Owaisi demanded immediate clarity from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the circumstances surrounding this incident.
"It is the PM's constitutional responsibility to inform the country what happened. We are with America in the QUAD. How did the US come so close to our country and sink that vessel that had no weapons, and which came on our invitation?" he questioned, pointing to India's strategic partnership with the US through the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD).
Owaisi stressed that the Prime Minister should address the nation on this matter and actively work to de-escalate rising tensions in West Asia. He highlighted the potential impact on millions of Indian expatriates residing in Gulf countries, warning that any escalation in the region could severely affect their safety and livelihoods.
Broader Implications for National Security and Diplomacy
The AIMIM president's dual allegations touch upon critical domestic and international issues. Domestically, the claims about government funding for organizations promoting anti-constitutional rhetoric raise questions about communal harmony and the use of public resources. Internationally, the demand for transparency regarding the Iranian warship incident underscores concerns about India's sovereignty, its diplomatic relations with both the US and Iran, and its role in maintaining stability in West Asia.
Owaisi's speech reflects growing political tensions and the complex interplay between domestic politics and foreign policy. As these allegations circulate, they are likely to fuel further debate in political circles and among the public regarding government accountability, constitutional integrity, and national security priorities.
