Owaisi and Ajmal Launch Joint Campaign Blitz Across Assam

In a significant political development, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal have announced a coordinated campaign effort. The two leaders will jointly address a series of nine public rallies spanning eleven key constituencies in Assam over the next two days.

Detailed Rally Schedule and Strategic Focus

The campaign itinerary is meticulously planned to cover constituencies where the AIUDF has traditionally held influence. On the first day, the duo will hold five rallies specifically for AIUDF candidates. These include constituencies such as Paka Betbari in Barpeta district, Dalgaon in Darrang district, Dhing and Lahorighat in Morigaon district, Rupahihat and Samaguri in Nagaon district, and Binnakandi in Hojai district.

Notably, Badruddin Ajmal, a three-time Lok Sabha MP from Dhubri, is himself contesting from the newly created Binnakandi constituency. This constituency was formed during the 2023 delimitation process by dissolving the erstwhile Jamunamukh constituency. Binnakandi is a minority-majority constituency with an overwhelming demographic composition of approximately 98% minority votes.

Ajmal faces a competitive electoral battle in Binnakandi, contesting against Sahabuddin Mazumdar, the candidate from BJP's key ally Asom Gana Parishad, and Rejaul Karim Chowdhury, the candidate from the Opposition alliance's key partner Assam Jatiya Parishad.

Expanding the Campaign Footprint

On the second day of campaigning, Owaisi and Ajmal will shift their focus to additional constituencies, holding rallies for candidates in Goalpara East, Dhubri, Chenga, and Mandia. This expanded schedule underscores the comprehensive nature of their joint electoral strategy.

Political analysts suggest that these joint campaign rallies are expected to significantly bolster the electoral prospects of the AIUDF. The presence of Asaduddin Owaisi is particularly aimed at consolidating minority votes in constituencies where the party has fielded candidates, especially in areas where the AIUDF has historically maintained strong support.

Historical Context and Strategic Alliance

Discussing Owaisi's visit to Assam, Badruddin Ajmal provided insights into the background of this political collaboration. "There have been talks regarding this matter between Owaisi and me for a considerable period. We share an old and established relationship as well," Ajmal stated.

He further elaborated on the formalization of this alliance: "Recently, my son Abdul Rahman Ajmal formally met him at his residence and held detailed discussions seeking his support in this election. Owaisi also engaged in direct conversations with me. Following these comprehensive talks, he agreed to extend support to the AIUDF and visit the state for campaign rallies."

This strategic partnership between the AIMIM and AIUDF represents a calculated move to strengthen their position in Assam's political landscape, particularly in constituencies with significant minority populations. The joint rallies are designed to maximize voter mobilization and present a unified front against their political opponents.
