Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Major Development Projects in Valmikinagar
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Sunday, launched a series of significant development projects in Valmikinagar, a strategic location situated along the India-Nepal border within West Champaran district. During his visit, the CM conducted a thorough review of ongoing key infrastructure works and issued explicit directives to officials to ensure their timely and efficient completion.
Infrastructure Inspection and Canal Restoration Progress
Kumar personally inspected the restoration work on the Don canal branch service road. Officials on-site reported that approximately 80% of the project has been successfully completed, which includes the crucial strengthening of the embankment road. Emphasizing the project's importance, the Chief Minister instructed the concerned officials to accelerate the remaining tasks. He highlighted that the canal is vital for irrigation purposes and directly benefits a substantial number of local farmers in the region.
Eco-Tourism and Park Development Initiatives
The Chief Minister later visited the construction site of the Luv-Kush Eco-Tourism Park, which is being developed near the Gandak dam reservoir. He reviewed the various facilities currently under development there. Officials provided detailed briefings through site plans, explaining the diverse components of this ambitious tourism project. Additionally, Kumar inspected the water resources department guesthouse, the Valmikinagar Eco Park, and assessed the operational situation at the Gandak barrage.
Foundation Stone Laying and Conservation Efforts
At the Valmiki auditorium complex, a key event unfolded as CM Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for the new Eco-Tourism Centre under the Valmiki Tiger Reserve Division-2. In a significant move for wildlife conservation, he also inaugurated vulture conservation centres at Ganauli and Chiutahan. To further boost regional tourism, the Chief Minister flagged off eight new jungle safari vehicles, aimed at enhancing visitor experiences and promoting eco-tourism.
Political Endorsement and Future Vision
Former JD(U) MLA Dhirendra Pratap Singh, popularly known as Rinku Singh, commented on the visit, stating, “The chief minister is like a guardian to us and shares a deep connection with Valmikinagar. During his tenure, he has visited the region 16–17 times and has consistently announced major initiatives for tourism and overall development.” He added that the state government is actively working to develop Valmikinagar into a premier eco-tourism destination, which is expected to generate numerous employment opportunities for local residents, thereby fostering economic growth and community welfare.
