NCP MP Demands Comprehensive Investigation Into Ajit Pawar's Fatal Plane Crash
Beed MP and NCP (SP) member Bajrang Sonawane has issued a strong demand for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the tragic aircrash that claimed the life of deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar near Baramati on January 28. The politician has openly questioned the official account of the incident, raising serious concerns that require immediate attention from authorities.
Questioning the Official Narrative and Calling for Evidence
Addressing a press conference in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sonawane directly challenged the established explanation of the crash. He insisted that authorities must thoroughly examine whether there was an explosive device on board the aircraft, citing the appearance of a mid-air explosion as a key point of contention. The MP demanded full disclosure of all CCTV footage from the morning of the crash day, emphasizing that this visual evidence is crucial for understanding the sequence of events.
Sonawane further called for a formal investigation into questions raised by social activist Anjali Damania regarding the crash. "The entire probe should be made public. From the pilot's identity to the precise sequence of events on the day of the incident, everything must be placed before the people," he stated firmly, underscoring the need for complete transparency in the investigative process.
Emotional Tribute and Memorial Plans for Ajit Pawar
Speaking with deep emotion about his personal and political connection to the late leader, Sonawane revealed that Ajit Pawar played a pivotal role in shaping his political career. "I have known Ajitdada since 1999. He was my political father. This feels like destiny's cruel game," he expressed, highlighting the profound personal loss he has experienced.
In honor of Ajit Pawar's legacy, the Beed MP announced ambitious plans to construct a grand memorial in the Yedeshwari sugar factory area. "Such a memorial has never been built in Beed district before. It will inspire and energise people," Sonawane explained. He added that the goal is to complete the memorial within one year and inaugurate it on the first anniversary of Pawar's death, noting that the leader's passing occurred just as Beed district was poised for significant development.
Avoiding Political Discussions During Mourning Period
Despite the political implications of the crash and surrounding events, Sonawane refrained from commenting on current political developments. This includes the potential reunion of the two NCP factions and Sunetra Pawar's oath-taking ceremony. "This is not the time for politics. There is a 10-day mourning period, which is why I stayed away from the media," he clarified, demonstrating respect for the solemnity of the situation.
