Mayawati to Mark Ambedkar Death Anniversary at Home, Skips Public Events
Mayawati to pay tributes to Ambedkar at residence on Dec 6

In a significant announcement, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati revealed she will pay her respects to Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his death anniversary, December 6, from her residence. This decision means she will not attend the commemorative events her party is organizing in Lucknow and Noida.

Security Concerns Drive Personal Decision

Explaining her choice on social media platform X, Mayawati stated that while the sites, monuments, and parks built by the former BSP government in Uttar Pradesh have become pilgrimage sites for followers, her visits create public inconvenience. She emphasized that the government-provided security arrangements, which are crucial for her safety, often result in the public being kept away from the main venue. To avoid causing hardship to people, she has decided to offer her tributes privately at her residence or the party office on such occasions.

Party Cadre Directed to Two Key Sites

The BSP chief has issued specific instructions for her party workers. She has directed party members from across Uttar Pradesh, excluding Western UP, to gather at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal in Lucknow. Meanwhile, workers from Western UP, Delhi, and Uttarakhand have been asked to pay their respects at the Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida on the same day.

Legacy of BSP Governments Highlighted

In her communication, Mayawati strongly defended the legacy of the four BSP governments in Uttar Pradesh led by her. She asserted that these administrations gave full respect and honour to great men born in the Bahujan Samaj, who were previously neglected or despised by what she termed "casteist parties." She specifically named Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, Narayana Guru, Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, and Kanshi Ram Ji.

She highlighted that her government launched numerous public welfare schemes and constructed magnificent sites in Lucknow and Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida). These were built in the names of icons who preached social change and economic liberation, dedicating their lives to the struggle for the welfare of crores of people in the country.
