The Mangaluru City Police's Crime Branch (CCB) has made another arrest in connection with the murder of rowdy sheeter Arif Hussain, also known as 'Tablet Arif', a resident of Uchila Mullugudde. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Ullal police station earlier this year.
Arrest Details
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim Sinan alias Chinnu, 21, a resident of Shantinagar, Padil, and currently residing in a rented house in Padil, Mangaluru. According to police, Sinan was allegedly present during the planning of the murder in February and provided financial assistance to the perpetrators.
Background of the Case
In the early hours of March 27, Arif was traveling on a motorcycle over the Thokkottu flyover when assailants in a car allegedly rammed his bike and attacked him with deadly weapons. The attackers later abandoned the vehicle at Budoli, Bantwal taluk, and fled the scene. A case was registered at Ullal police station and subsequently transferred to the CCB for investigation.
Previous Criminal Record
Sinan has a history of criminal activity, with two cases registered against him. These include an attempt to murder case in Kankanady town police station in 2025 and an assault case at Mangaluru North police station in 2024. He is also the brother of deceased rowdy sheeter 'Toppi Naufal'.
Earlier Arrests
Police had previously arrested 12 individuals in connection with the murder: Mohammed Rifath Ali, Ibrahim Khalil, Ashfaq alias Juttu Ashfaq, Ummar Farooq Irfan, Mohammed Shakir, Mohammed Rizwan alias Rizwan, Mohammed Irshad alias Akudu, Mohammed Harshad, Nishaq alias Pucche Nishaq, B Junaid alias Kokkada Junaid, and Mohammed Suhail alias Chiya. All accused have been produced before the court and are currently in judicial custody.
Investigation Progress
City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH confirmed Sinan's involvement in the murder plot. The investigation continues as authorities work to bring all perpetrators to justice.
