IRCTC Introduces Revised Food Menu for Vande Bharat Sleeper Train
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has officially released a comprehensive revised food menu for passengers traveling on the inaugural Vande Bharat Sleeper train. This significant update comes after Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on February 1 that non-vegetarian meal options would soon be introduced on this premium service.
Expanded Meal Choices for Passengers
Previously, the menu lacked non-veg items such as fish and meat, limiting choices for travelers. Now, IRCTC has prepared three separate food menu lists for each direction of the Kamakhya-Howrah-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper Express, which began commercial operations on January 22 after being flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 17.
For train number 27575, the Howrah-Kamakhya route, passengers will be served:
- Vegetarian Options: Basanti Pulao, Ghee rice, or Green Peas Pulao accompanied by paratha, Cholar dal, and side dishes like Aloo gajar methi matar bhaja or Jhuri aaloo bhaja. Main courses include matar paneer, chanar dalna, or dhokar dalna.
- Non-Vegetarian Options: Bengali chicken curry, Murgh rogini, or Murgir jhol.
- Desserts: Sandesh, Kala Jamun, or Kheer Kadam.
Similarly, for train number 27576, the Kamakhya-Howrah route, the menu features:
- Vegetarian Options: Jeera rice, Jeera corn pulao, or Kismish pulao with Tehdar Paratha, Mixed dal (Arhar, Moong), and vegetable dishes like Lesera aloo bhaji, Bhendi aloo bhaji, or Beans aloo bhaji. Main courses include Paneer Masala or Kadai Paneer.
- Non-Vegetarian Options: Chicken masala or Chicken curry.
- Desserts: Narikal Burfi, Lal Mohan, or Rasgulla.
Service Timing and Additional Offerings
In addition to the main meals, IRCTC provides morning tea service between 06:30 and 08:00 hours, along with biscuits and muffins. Dinner is served from 20:00 to 22:00 hours, ensuring passengers have access to quality catering throughout their journey.
This menu revision marks a pivotal step in enhancing passenger experience on the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, aligning with Indian Railways' efforts to modernize and diversify services. The introduction of non-veg options caters to a wider range of dietary preferences, reflecting the growing demand for varied culinary choices on long-distance trains.
The Kamakhya-Howrah-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper Express continues to operate smoothly, with these new food options available for selection during ticket booking, as confirmed by IRCTC officials.
