IAF Helicopters Launch Major Firefighting Operation in Arunachal Pradesh
In a critical response to a raging forest fire in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang district, the Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed helicopters to drop a massive 1.62 lakh litres of water, aiding in containment efforts and protecting vulnerable areas.

During the intensive operation, IAF helicopters skillfully lifted water directly from the Siang River, utilizing it as a primary resource to combat the flames. The water was strategically dropped over two key zones: interior forest areas to directly tackle the fire's core and locations close to human settlements to prevent the blaze from spreading to populated regions, thereby safeguarding lives and property.

The firefighting mission, reported on March 12, 2026, highlights the IAF's rapid deployment capabilities in emergency situations.
