Congress Questions BJP Propaganda and Performance on Modi's 12th Year
The Congress party has launched a sharp critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the government marks its 12th year in power. The opposition party accused the BJP of relying on propaganda while failing to address critical economic issues, particularly unemployment among the youth.
In a statement, Congress highlighted alarming statistics: the urban youth unemployment rate stands at 18.4%, and only 7% of unemployed graduates manage to secure a permanent salaried job within a year. The party argued that these figures expose the gap between the government's narrative of progress and the reality faced by millions of young Indians.
Unemployment Crisis Under Spotlight
Congress leaders emphasized that the Modi government's 12-year tenure has been marked by jobless growth. They pointed to data from various reports showing that despite claims of economic development, the job market remains bleak for the educated youth. The party called for a comprehensive policy overhaul to generate employment and stabilize the economy.
Senior Congress spokesperson Pramod Tiwari said, "The BJP's 12 years in power have been a period of propaganda, not performance. The youth are paying the price for this failure. We demand accountability and concrete action to address unemployment."
BJP's Response
The BJP dismissed the Congress allegations, citing initiatives like the Skill India Mission and Startup India as evidence of the government's commitment to youth employment. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur stated, "Under Prime Minister Modi, India has become the fastest-growing major economy. The Congress is spreading falsehoods to hide its own record of corruption and stagnation."
Political analysts note that the unemployment issue is likely to be a key battleground in upcoming state elections. With the Congress seeking to regain ground, the debate over jobs and economic management is expected to intensify.
