Congress Leader Rao Narendra Singh Denounces Union Budget as 'Betrayal of the Public'
In a strong critique of the Union Budget, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narendra Singh declared on Wednesday that the financial plan has left both Haryana and the nation deeply disappointed, labeling it a "betrayal of the public". Speaking to mediapersons in Sector 13, Hisar, Singh emphasized that the post-budget decline in the stock market serves as a clear indicator of waning investor confidence.
Budget Fails to Address Core Economic Concerns
Rao Narendra Singh asserted that the government's economic policies have failed to satisfy either the common people or the industrial sector. He highlighted that the budget neglects critical grassroots issues, including:
- Persistent inflation affecting daily life
- Rising unemployment among the youth
- Ongoing distress in the farming community
- A weakening rural economy that demands urgent attention
He pointed out that the budget lacks concrete employment opportunities for young people and offers no effective roadmap to boost farmers' incomes, leaving key demographics without relief.
Haryana's Agricultural Needs Overlooked
Singh expressed particular concern for Haryana, an agriculture-dominated state, noting that no special package or meaningful provisions were announced to support its rural population. This omission has led to widespread disappointment among farmers, labourers, and rural residents. He added that the government failed to provide any relief on the escalating costs of essential agricultural inputs such as fertilisers, seeds, diesel, and equipment, further burdening those in the agricultural sector.
Allegations Against MNREGA and Commitment to Fight
Referring to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), the Congress leader accused the Central Government of continuously attempting to weaken the scheme. He stressed that MNREGA is not merely a welfare program but a guarantee of dignified livelihood for the poor and working class, underscoring its importance in safeguarding rights.
Singh reaffirmed that the Congress party will persist in its struggle to protect the interests of farmers, labourers, youth, and the impoverished, vowing to challenge policies that undermine their well-being.
Organisational Restructuring in Haryana Congress
Shifting focus to party affairs, Rao Narendra Singh detailed ongoing efforts to strengthen the Congress organisation in Haryana. He reported that executive committees have been announced for 26 out of the state's 33 districts, with the remaining lists set to be released soon. This restructuring addresses previous organisational challenges where two Assembly constituencies were merged under one block, which hindered effective work.
Singh explained that the correction involves assigning a separate block to each Assembly constituency, ensuring clear responsibilities for workers and bolstering the organisation at the grassroots level. He also announced that the list of block presidents will be unveiled shortly, with continuous efforts aimed at strengthening the party up to the booth level to ensure direct communication of Congress policies and programs to the masses.
The event was attended by District Congress Committee (Rural) Hisar president Brijlal Bahbalpuriya and Dharamveer Goyat, highlighting collective support for these initiatives.
