Buxar MP Accuses Centre of Neglecting Bihar in Union Budget 2026, BJP Counters with Praise
The Union Budget 2026-27 has sparked intense political debate in Buxar, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) launching sharp criticism against the central government for allegedly sidelining Bihar post-elections. RJD MP from Buxar, Sudhakar Singh, voiced strong objections, claiming the budget makes no specific mention of Bihar, a state he argues only features in the Centre's priorities during electoral periods.
Development Schemes and Rural Economy Overlooked
Singh highlighted that development schemes targeting cities with populations exceeding five lakh effectively exclude most districts in Bihar, leaving many regions without adequate support. He emphasized that villages, which form the economic backbone of the state, were completely ignored in the budget proposals. This omission, he argued, undermines the potential for inclusive growth and development in rural Bihar.
Rail Travel and Healthcare Concerns Raised
On infrastructure, Singh pointed to critical issues in rail travel, noting overcrowded and unsafe conditions due to a lack of new trains and the persistence of unmanned railway crossings. In healthcare, he criticized unfulfilled promises of affordable cancer medicines and the absence of a cancer super-specialty hospital in Bihar, forcing patients to seek expensive treatment outside the state. He warned that the growing privatization of healthcare and education would further burden the poor and middle classes.
Allegations of Regional Bias and Capitalist Favoritism
Accusing the Centre of regional favoritism, Singh alleged that major projects like textile parks, bullet trains, and mineral hubs are concentrated in Gujarat and Maharashtra. He stated, "The Budget favours capitalists, select states and electoral interests, not farmers, labourers, students or the poor," arguing that it neglects the needs of marginalized groups across India.
BJP Defends Budget as Visionary for National Growth
In contrast, BJP leader Varsha Pandey welcomed the Union Budget 2026-27, praising it as a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a developed India. She emphasized the budget's focus on capital investment, infrastructure development, job creation, and fiscal discipline, asserting that these measures will ensure sustainable long-term economic growth and benefit all states, including Bihar.
The divergent reactions underscore the deep political divides over budgetary allocations and regional development priorities, with Buxar emerging as a focal point in this ongoing national discourse.
