Bihar NDA Partners Applaud Union Budget's Focus on State Development
In a significant show of unity, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners in Bihar have collectively praised the Union Budget, emphasizing its potential to drive industrial growth and development in the state. The alliance members held a joint press conference at the BJP office in Patna on Monday, where they outlined the budget's benefits for Bihar.
Budget Allocations and Financial Support for Bihar
BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi addressed the media, highlighting that the budget includes a substantial provision of Rs 1,62,142 crore for Bihar. Of this amount, Rs 1,51,831 crore is allocated as a share of central taxes, which represents an increase of Rs 11,726 crore compared to the previous year. Saraogi emphasized that this financial boost will prove significant in the industrial development of Bihar, making it very effective in boosting industries in the coming times.
He further noted that the budget includes special provisions for the welfare of the poor and for self-help groups aimed at empowering women. According to a press statement, the Centre has been making sustained, transformative investments in Bihar, with Rs 1.51 lakh crore budgeted for tax devolution in 2026-27 and Rs 54,575 crore provided as grants-in-aid for 2025-26.
Long-Term Financial Assistance and Capital Expenditure
The press statement revealed that between 2014 and 2026, Bihar has received Rs 9.72 lakh crore in tax devolution and Rs 2.80 lakh crore in grants-in-aid, reflecting a substantial increase in financial support for the state's development. Beyond the Finance Commission recommendations, Bihar has been a significant beneficiary of the special assistance to States for Capital Expenditure Scheme.
This scheme provides 50-year, interest-free loans for capital investment, with a total of Rs 40,441 crore released to Bihar between FY 2020-21 and January 2026. The yearly allocations under this scheme have seen a notable rise, increasing from Rs 843 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 14,791 crore in 2024-25 and Rs 6,289 crore in 2025-26 (till January 2026).
Reactions from Other NDA Partners
Other NDA partners in Bihar also expressed their support for the Union Budget. LJP(RV) state chief Raju Tiwari stated that the budget reflects a commitment to fulfilling the basic needs of the common people. Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) state president Alok Singh added that the budget will further strengthen the foundation of India's bright future.
JD(U) spokesman Neeraj Kumar described the budget as unconventional, placing inclusive development, self-reliant India, and green growth in a new framework. Hindustani Awam Morcha (S) state vice-president D N Sinha praised the Union Budget as positive, balanced, and commendable, envisioning the fulfilment of the resolutions for a developed India.
The collective endorsement from the NDA partners underscores the budget's alignment with the developmental goals of Bihar, focusing on industrial growth, financial support, and social welfare initiatives.
