Assam CM Unveils AI-Powered Legislative System and New Assembly Complex
Guwahati witnessed a significant technological and infrastructural leap in governance as Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated multiple state-of-the-art facilities at the Assam Legislative Assembly complex on Monday. The event marked the launch of the new assembly secretariat building, a cutting-edge digital museum, and the groundbreaking artificial intelligence-powered system named ALISA – AI for Legislative Intelligence System of Assam.
Modern 17-Storey Secretariat Building
The newly inaugurated secretariat building stands as an impressive 17-storey structure, including the ground floor, designed with advanced facilities to enhance legislative operations. Spanning approximately 8,000 square metres, the building incorporates a centralized Building Management System (BMS). This sophisticated system allows for the efficient control of electrical installations and other technical infrastructure across all floors from a single, unified location, streamlining maintenance and operational efficiency.
Digital Museum Showcasing Assam's Democratic Journey
Alongside the secretariat, a state-of-the-art digital museum was unveiled, featuring multiple galleries that highlight the pivotal role of the Assam Legislative Assembly in shaping the state's political landscape. The museum meticulously documents key milestones in Assam's democratic evolution and celebrates the contributions of prominent leaders who have strengthened the state's democratic, social, and cultural foundations. Chief Minister Sarma expressed his enthusiasm on social media, urging the public to visit and experience the museum's immersive displays.
"Do visit the new digital museum at the Assam Legislative Assembly Complex. Several new age technologies have been deployed to recreate the glorious contribution played by our legislature in building Assam. I found the depiction of some our stalwarts extremely life like," the CM posted on X.
ALISA: AI-Driven Legislative Intelligence System
In a landmark move, Chief Minister Sarma launched ALISA – AI for Legislative Intelligence System of Assam at the Central Hall of the assembly. This innovative platform, powered by artificial intelligence, is designed to revolutionize how legislative information is accessed and analyzed. ALISA enables rapid retrieval and analysis of data from the Assembly's extensive repository, which includes legislative records and decisions spanning nearly a century.
The system supports multiple languages, providing information in Assamese, Bodo, Hindi, and English, thereby ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for a diverse range of users. This multilingual capability underscores the state's commitment to leveraging technology for transparent and efficient governance.
Enhancing Legislative Efficiency with Technology
The inauguration of these facilities represents a significant step forward in modernizing Assam's legislative processes. The integration of AI through ALISA promises to enhance decision-making by providing lawmakers with quick access to historical data and statistical insights. Meanwhile, the digital museum serves as an educational resource, preserving and presenting Assam's rich democratic heritage through interactive and engaging exhibits.
This comprehensive upgrade to the assembly complex not only improves operational infrastructure but also positions Assam as a leader in adopting digital solutions for public administration. The initiatives reflect a forward-thinking approach to governance, blending tradition with innovation to better serve the people of Assam.
