A 22-year-old man was brutally killed in Kapurthala, Punjab, on Tuesday evening, with police suspecting that a trivial dispute over Rs 30 at a local market escalated into a fatal attack. The victim has been identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of the New Basti area in Kapurthala.

According to eyewitnesses, the argument began at a vegetable market near the bus stand when the victim allegedly refused to pay an extra Rs 30 demanded by a vendor. The heated exchange quickly turned violent, and the vendor, along with two accomplices, allegedly attacked Ravi with sharp-edged weapons. He was rushed to the local civil hospital but succumbed to his injuries late at night.
Police Investigation
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kapurthala, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. "We have identified the suspects and are conducting raids to arrest them. The motive appears to be a petty dispute over money," he said. The police have also recovered the weapon used in the crime from the spot.
The deceased's family has alleged that the attack was premeditated and demanded strict action against the accused. "My son was killed over a mere Rs 30. The attackers should be given the harshest punishment," said the victim's father, a local shopkeeper.
