Lakhisarai Land Dispute Turns Fatal: Youth Shot Dead, Friends Under Scanner
Youth Found Shot Dead in Lakhisarai, Land Dispute Suspected

The body of a 25-year-old man, riddled with bullets, was discovered in a riverine area of Lakhisarai district on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the local community. The victim, identified as Piyush Kumar, son of late Rajesh Singh from Mohanpur village, was found in the Ramchandrapur Koilwar diara under the jurisdiction of the Piparia police station.

A Grisly Discovery in the Diara

According to family members, Piyush had left his home on Friday afternoon, presumably heading to the fields. When he failed to return by evening, concerned relatives launched a search. After their efforts proved futile, they officially alerted the Piparia police station late on Friday night.

A joint search operation involving police and family members was conducted through the night. In the early hours of Saturday, the grim discovery was made in the diara region. The body bore multiple gunshot wounds, with bullets hitting the head, neck, and other vital parts. Five bullet entry wounds were confirmed on the body, indicating a brutal execution.

The body was subsequently sent to Sadar Hospital in Lakhisarai for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause and circumstances of death.

Land Dispute Emerges as Prime Motive, Friends Under Suspicion

Preliminary investigations by the police strongly point towards a long-standing land dispute as the primary motive behind the cold-blooded murder. The needle of suspicion has turned towards the victim's own social circle.

Shivam Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Lakhisarai, stated that while the exact motive is still being verified, the family's complaint directly accuses Piyush's friends. "The victim’s family accused his friends of killing him. Based on the complaint, the police detained a person for questioning," the SDPO said.

Police have already detained one acquaintance of the deceased for intensive questioning. However, another key suspect is currently absconding. Authorities have launched raids across probable hideouts to apprehend the fugitive.

Police Investigation and Next Steps

The Piparia police have registered a formal case against unidentified assailants and are pursuing multiple investigative angles. A forensic team was summoned to the crime scene to collect crucial scientific evidence that could nail the perpetrators.

"Police are investigating all angles. The FSL team was called to the crime spot to gather evidence. Further investigation is underway," SDPO Shivam Kumar added, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the probe.

The murder has highlighted tensions in the area, with land disputes often turning violent. The police are now piecing together the victim's last movements and deepening their inquiry into the suspected interpersonal conflict that led to this tragic outcome.
