In a heartwarming development, a woman from Surat who disappeared from her home at the tender age of 14, driven by aspirations for an acting career, has been successfully traced to Rajasthan after an agonizing six-year separation. This discovery culminated in a profoundly emotional reunion with her family, who had endured years of mental distress and uncertainty regarding her whereabouts.
Police Investigation Leads to Breakthrough in Jodhpur
The Adajan police in Surat played a pivotal role in locating the woman, who is now 20 years old. She was found residing in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where she was employed at a local bakery. This came after her initial dreams of entering the acting profession reportedly did not materialize as hoped.
Senior police officials provided detailed insights into the case, revealing that the woman went missing near the Bhulka Bhuvan area in 2019. Her family exhausted all possible avenues to find her, but their efforts proved futile. Consequently, they formally registered a missing persons report at the Adajan police station, initiating an official search.
Digital Footprint Provides Crucial Lead
Despite persistent investigative attempts over several years, law enforcement authorities faced significant challenges without any solid leads. The breakthrough finally emerged through the woman's online presence. During the investigation, Adajan police officers conducted searches on social media platforms, specifically Facebook, where they identified several profiles matching her name.
To verify the identity, family members were summoned to the police station for assistance. The woman's sister successfully recognized her from a profile picture, marking a critical turning point in the case. The sister proceeded to send a friend request, which was promptly accepted, enabling direct communication for the first time in six years.
"We finally reunited her with her family," stated Adajan police inspector VA Jograna, highlighting the successful outcome of their efforts.
Voluntary Departure and Life in Jodhpur
Further investigation revealed that the woman had left Surat voluntarily in 2019, motivated by the pursuit of better income opportunities and her personal ambitions. She traveled to Jodhpur, where she initially secured employment at a manufacturing unit, earning approximately Rs 15,000 per month.
At the time of her discovery, she was residing in a girls' hostel and working at a bakery. Police authorities confirmed that she explicitly denied any involvement in untoward incidents or human trafficking, asserting that her departure was entirely of her own free will, aimed at earning a livelihood and chasing her dreams.
The reunion has brought immense relief and joy to her family, closing a chapter of prolonged anguish and uncertainty.
