A senior executive from a pharmaceutical company in Ahmedabad has approached the police, accusing her husband of harassment and abandoning her financially after he left India for higher studies in Germany. The 34-year-old woman filed a detailed complaint at the Women Police Station (East), narrating a story of broken promises and alleged mistreatment.
From Wedding Vows to Broken Promises
The couple tied the knot in Naroda in the year 2022. According to the complaint, the woman's parents presented gold, silver, garments, and other traditional gifts at the wedding, commensurate with their financial standing. After marriage, the pair started their life together in a rented home in Gandhinagar. The woman continued her professional duties in Ahmedabad, while her husband was employed at a private firm in Gandhinagar.
However, marital harmony was short-lived. The executive stated that disagreements soon erupted over trivial domestic issues. These disputes escalated into frequent arguments, followed by alleged physical and mental harassment inflicted by her husband and his father.
The German Dream and Subsequent Abandonment
As per the complaint, her husband began preparing to move to Germany for advanced education. He reportedly assured her with a clear plan: "First, I will go to Germany, then I will process your visa, and then I will take you with me." Trusting this assurance, the woman claims she dipped into her personal savings and used her salary to support his travel and associated costs for the move abroad.
In September 2023, her husband departed for Germany. He dropped her off at her parents' residence in Naroda before leaving the country. Since then, despite her repeated pleas to be brought to Germany as promised, she has received "no proper answer" from him, effectively leaving her in limbo.
Financial Hardship and Alleged Taunts
The financial strain of funding her husband's relocation has reportedly pushed the complainant into severe monetary difficulty. When she turned to her father-in-law for assistance, she was met with a harsh refusal. She alleges he told her, "Don't ask me for money," and mocked her to manage the household independently, while withholding any form of financial support.
The situation worsened when she visited her marital home in Bhavnagar, where she faced further harassment. This incident forced her to return to her parents' house in Naroda, where she has been residing ever since. The police complaint now seeks justice for the alleged emotional, physical, and financial ordeal she has endured.
