In a shocking crime that has rattled the Umarga region near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, a 35-year-old man was brutally murdered, leading to the arrest of his wife and her alleged lover within half a day. Police officials confirmed that the killing was motivated by an illicit relationship between the accused pair.
Body Discovered with Severe Injuries
The grim discovery was made on Sunday morning by passersby on Koregaonwadi Road, located close to the Umarga city bypass. The body of the victim, later identified as Shahuraj Suryavanshi (35), was found lying on the roadside. Local residents immediately alerted the Umarga police station.
Upon arrival, officers were met with a gruesome scene. The victim's face was severely mutilated, making on-the-spot identification nearly impossible. A team led by Sub-divisional Police Officer Shelar and Umarga Inspector Suryavanshi sprang into action, canvassing the area to establish the deceased man's identity.
Swift Police Work Unravels the Case
The investigative team contacted farmers and residents in the vicinity. After nearly four hours of diligent effort, they successfully identified the deceased as Shahuraj Suryavanshi. To gather scientific evidence, a dog squad and a forensic team were deployed at the crime scene. Senior officer Meghna Nagaraj also visited the spot to review the progress of the investigation.
Acting on collected evidence, the police detained two suspects: Shivaji Dudhnale (32) and the victim's own wife, Gauri Suryavanshi (34). During sustained interrogation, both individuals allegedly confessed to committing the murder.
Motive: Illicit Affair and Domestic Strife
Dharashiv Superintendent of Police Ritu Khokher-Kalyan revealed the motive behind the heinous act. "Our investigation revealed that the deceased man's wife and the co-accused were in an illicit relationship," the SP stated. She further explained that frequent disputes between Shahuraj and his wife had become a major issue, ultimately leading the two accused to conspire and eliminate him.
The police believe the murder was carried out using a sharp weapon and stones. The swift resolution of the case within 12 hours highlights the effective response of the local police force. The accused are now in custody and will face legal proceedings for their alleged crime.
