Berhampur: A seemingly trivial argument over the choice of music during a wedding procession turned fatal when the groom's brother was stabbed to death by the DJ and his friends. The incident occurred on Saturday night at Balighai village under Polasara police station limits in Ganjam district.

Details of the Incident

The victim was identified as Akash Jena, 25. On Saturday night, after the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom proceeded through the village in a procession. According to police, Akash had asked the DJ to play a particular song so that he could record a social media reel. However, the DJ refused, leading to an altercation between the two. Later, the DJ reportedly called some of his friends, who attacked Akash and stabbed him with a knife.

Medical Response

Akash was initially taken to the community health centre in Polasara and later referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, police said.

Police Investigation

Kaushik Majhi, inspector in-charge of Polasara police station, stated that a murder case has been registered, but no arrests have been made yet. "We have detained several people who were present in the procession for questioning. The accused persons, who fled the spot, have been identified and they will be arrested soon," Kaushik added.

The incident highlights how a minor disagreement can escalate into violence, leaving a family grieving and a community in shock. Police are continuing their investigation and have assured that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
