Village Pradhan Arrested After Police Encounter in Firozabad
Police in Firozabad arrested a village pradhan after an encounter on Saturday. The incident took place in Jalalpur village under the Shikohabad police station limits.
The arrested individual is Multan Singh. He serves as the sitting gram pradhan of Jalalpur. Singh sustained a bullet injury in his leg during the encounter.
Connection to Advocate Attack Cases
Police stated that Singh is wanted in two cases registered at Shikohabad police station. Both cases relate to attacks on advocate Ashish Kumar.
According to the complaint, Singh and his associates first assaulted the advocate. This happened while the advocate was on his way to collect milk.
A fresh attempt on the advocate's life allegedly occurred on January 15. The accused opened fire during this incident.
Police Operation and Encounter Details
Following the January 15 incident, police formed three teams. These teams operated under the supervision of the additional SP (rural).
Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint on the Nagla Pohpi road. The suspects were heading towards NH-19 on a motorcycle at the time.
SP (Rural) Anuj Chaudhary provided details of the encounter. He said police signaled the suspects to stop. One of the suspects then opened fire with the intent to kill.
Police retaliated in self-defence. During this exchange, Singh was shot in the leg. Police apprehended him at the scene.
Evidence Recovered and Associate's Escape
Police seized several items from Singh. These included a licensed .315 bore rifle. Officers also recovered six live cartridges and two spent cartridges.
Singh's associate managed to escape during the encounter. Identified as Sonu, he fled on the motorcycle. Police are currently searching for him.
Criminal History and Current Status
Police revealed that Singh has a substantial criminal history. Approximately half a dozen cases are registered against him at Shikohabad police station.
Singh is currently undergoing medical treatment. He remains under police watch at the hospital. Authorities continue efforts to arrest the absconding accused and other named suspects.
